Court TV airs the first episode of Beach Patrol tonight at 8 p.m. The press release appearing on the Miami Beach Florida Government website sparks some intrigue, but the reviews paint an entirely different picture:

“Court TV’s new reality series “Beach Patrol: Miami Beach” (debuting tonight at 8) is so depressing you might swear off sandy shores for the rest of the summer.”

Baywatch meets Cops on South Beach in the Court TV series Beach Patrol. However, the episode provided for review is neither as titillating as Baywatch nor as bizarre as Cops.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal says they turned down Court TV’s request to work with their Beach Patrol and they are likely pleased they passed up the idea if reviews like this continue. Court TV which is struggling to find an identity in both daytime and evening programming and this program is expected to blur that identity even more. Court TV will air episode one and two this evening. The second episode was not prescreened so get ready for a round two of bashing in tomorrow’s headlines.
