Pinecrest Goes AM

Pinecrest will get its very own local radio station just in time for hurricane season. The AM station will be city operated and provide information on traffic, hurricane news and local events. The Miami Herald reported that "the Village Council approved a $37,700 contract last week with Highway Information Systems to buy radio equipment."

Miami Beach, Aventura and Miramar are just a few of the other cities that are also working to put a community type station in place. The FCC will be assigning the Pinecrest radio station a dial number in the near future and the station should be up and running in a month or two.
