Cat Owners Hiss 'Discrimination'

We caught up with the Florida Executive Director of the ACLU, Howard Simon, recently to discuss the DUI License Plate Bill and he called this the "silly season for legislatures." Well, that was his opinion, but he may have been hinting at something, especially with the newest piece of legislation proposed by Rep. Sherry McInvale, of Orlando. HB 333 and SB 1172 are bills that would create a three year test program allowing local goverments to permit dogs in restaurants under certain rules. According to an article in today's Sun Sentinel, this bill is being called "discriminatory." Cat owners are complaining that their felines should be granted the same priviliges as dogs. The sixty day legislative session began on Tuesday. Maybe we will have some real issues to report in the days ahead.
