The Flip Flop Ban

Flip flops are a staple of Florida attire. It’s hot and they are easy to wear and come in a ton of colors and styles. While we understand some school dress codes are mandated to keep order in classrooms, we just don’t see how flip flops fall into this category. Broward School Board members are voting today on changes to the Code of Student Conduct which would change the types of foot ware students are allowed to wear to school. In addition, the board will discuss whether laptops and iPods should be allowed on school grounds.
The Miami Herald reported that “at a workshop last week, board members were split on the changes. Some wanted to allow flip-flops but not bedroom slippers for middle and high school students, while some wanted to ban toeless shoes altogether for elementary and middle school students.”
Miamist Staffers just wonder what will be restricted next.
